In 1964 I was serving with my Yorkshire infantry regiment in Swaziland, South East Africa. When they had bush fires they asked us to help; we did and made an excellent job of it.
A year later I was serving in the same Yorkshire infantry regiment in Cyprus. When they had fires they asked us to help; we did and made an excellent job of it.
Now we have fires on our own Yorkshire moors and the only Yorkshire infantry left is serving the people of Afghanistan. You might like to ask your local Yorkshire Member of Parliament to ask the Prime Minister, why?
