Trap moles - don’t use strychnine

Re Peter the Moleman Friday 17th Feb.

A quick search on the Internet by your reporter would have provided much information about mole catchers.

Mole catching is a skill and the professional will take pride in the job and use traps. With trapping the caught moles can be counted and success rate monitored it is also environmentally friendly.

The use of strychnine is indiscriminate and should have been banned many years ago. It will kill moles and other species that eat the dead moles.

The strychnine will remain in the ground with the potential to kill wildlife indefinitely.

No one wants to see someone unemployed but can only assume that Peter Brown is not good at trapping. Training is available.

My interest in moles is to reduce the numbers in my lawn.
