I write to express my serious concern re the Government’s Planning Reform White Paper introducing a “presumption in favour of ‘sustainable development’”, regardless of the site of such development and its effect on the local environment.
My objections to this proposal are increased by the statement of the Chancellor of the Exchequer that he wants to see a default ‘yes’ to such development.
I see house for sale notices in large numbers throughout Calderdale, and many vacant ‘brown sites’. These should surely be utilised before other situations which will damage our attractive environment.
I have written to local MP Craig Whitaker urging him to oppose these proposals, and I urge others who share my concern to do likewise.
