Wrong time to help millionaires

.
.

I write in response to Coun James Baker’s letter last week.

Whilst I accept that there are more than one type of tax, it seems he is out of step even with senior figures in his own party when it comes to cutting income tax for millionaires. Speaking to Lib Dem Voice, party president Tim Farron said: “Cutting the top rate was a stupid thing to do. It probably raised £3bn a year. We should pledge to restore the 50p rate at the next election”. Meanwhile Lord Oakeshott the former Lib Dem Treasury spokesman said, “At the next election a 50p rate should be at the forefront of Lib Dem tax policy”. At least some Lib Dems realise that cutting tax for millionaires is definitely the wrong priority right now.
