Thanks to Anne Redfern, Janet Fletcher and local sponsorship the senior citizens of Calderdale can continue to enjoy free evenings of music.
The event, originally run by Ted and Margaret Hever, was rebranded as a Concert for the Young at Heart or "a rock gig for recycled teenagers" by compere Neil Hurst.
It entertained the lively audience for three hours with comedy, dance and song.
The Janet Austin Tap-pers got the proceedings off to a stylish start. Beautifully coached dancers from Stage Door Studio performed some early 60s hits while Dancercise members showed off one of their routines to In the Mood.
"House band" Dino and the Travellers who have been going since 1961 did fine 60s covers and general accompaniment.
More traditional contributions came from 12 members of the Halifax Gilbert and Sullivan Society with solos from Sheila Simpson, while Buttershaw St Paul's AOS performed scenes from Thoroughly Modern Millie, marred only by the lead singers' voices being unnecessarily amplified.
The Poly Rolys gave us comedy and Johnnie Casson had us in stitches with his shamelessly politically incorrect patter. Splendid stuff.
An old time sing-along brought this good-natured event to a jolly conclusion.
