Paddy McGuinness,
Victoria Theatre, Halifax
AFTER two years off the touring circuit, Paddy McGuinness hadn't lost his touch.

With tales of misfortune, ex-girlfriends and nights out with fellow comedian Rory McGrath, Paddy had his audience howling with laughter.

He arrived on stage looking dapper in a suit and enthralled the packed house with an hilarious, Family Fortunes-style game, using a large screen, appropriately-named pie chart and prizes of cookies, bread and sausage rolls (all provided by his favourite national pie and pastries shop, of course!)

Paddy claims to hate touring but did pretty well to keep his audience involved and entertained.

We saw a new product likely to hit our shops soon – the dad nav, Paddy's improved version of sat nav, equipped with typical English "dad phrases".

At one point, after giving out a signed programme and receiving an ungrateful gesture, I wondered if Paddy was regretting coming to Halifax.

But towards the end of his routine, he came up with a song about the town and everything he had learned while being here.

With dancers at his side, he rounded off a fantastic night out. I can't wait for him to come back.

His warm-up act was Andy Watson from Blackpool, a nervous young comedian who won a slot on Paddy's tour by submitting a DVD of his act.

He did an excellent job and the audience gave him a fantastic cheer.
