Neil Aspin said the referee had little choice but to postpone FC Halifax Town’s game with Harrogate tonight (Tuesday, February 12).
The match was postponed after an inspection by the referee, who deemed the surface unplayable at 6.30pm.
The Town boss said: “There’s nothing anybody could have done, the pitch was diaboloical and we couldn’t have played football on it.
“The referee’s got a difficult job but it’s the worst the pitch has been this season.
“Looking at the pitch, the surface was horrendous and the referee was left with little choice.
“Nobody wanted the game to be called off and the ref didn’t want to call it off but the surface was just too bad.”
