It will be Town first appearance at the national stadium and more than 10,000 supporters are expected to make the trip from Halifax.

Bosomworth says it will be an emotional moment seeing the club in action at Wembley.

People said when me, Stuart Peacock and Bobby Ham came in ‘why do three people from Bradford want to be involved with Halifax?’

“But we wanted to try and make a difference in the best way we could,” said Bosomworth.

“To go there now as chairman of a club is just fantastic.

“I’m quite an emotional guy and I know I’ll have a lump in my throat on the day.

“A lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes and it’s a very challenging job running a football club.

“But the fans have been fantastic - turning up in their droves against Nantwich and Macclesfeld - but we’ve got to get them coming back regularly.

“Everybody’s fighting to do the best for the club.”

Bosomworth’s first trip to Wembley came in 1996 to see Bradford in the old second division play-off final.

“I remember Bradford lost the first game in the semi-final at home against Blackpool 2-0 and I thought the world had come to an end.

“They went to Blackpool in the second-leg - and I was there at Bloomfield Road - and won 3-0.

“Then I went to the final and there were two great goals on the day from Mark Stallard and Des Hamilton - Notts County couldn’t really cope with them.

“I also went to the Capital One Cup final when Bradford played Swansea and I’ve been another couple of times as well.

“It’s a magnificent stadium but I can’t say I never thought we’d get there.”

Bosomworth says the town has responded brilliantly to Halifax reaching Wembley, and that a win on Sunday would be just reward for the club’s fans.

“Everybody’s really excited and for the town of Halifax it’s absolutely fantastic,” he said.

“The fans have been buying their shirts, flags and so on. They deserve a day to enjoy.

“It’s putting the club and the town on the map and it helps to give it a lift.

“After such a massive disappointment of relegation, to have a Wembley final to give the lads a chance to show how good they are is great.

“I don’t think for one minute that just because Grimsby won last week they’ll relax this week.

“We’ve got to be on our mettle. But we want to finish this season on a high.

“The lads have to go and enjoy the occasion because it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

“It might be their one and only chance to play at Wembley so go and enjoy it and do yourselves justice.”
