Fleetwood chairman Andy Pilley says Halifax are in line to receive a sell-on clause if Jamie Vardy moves from Leicester to Arsenal.

The striker could be on the verge of a move to The Gunners for around £20m and it is rumoured Fleetwood may get 20 per cent of that fee.

Vardy joined the Foxes from Fleetwood for £1m in 2012 and left Halifax for Fleetwood back in 2011, and the Fleetwood chairman says both his club and the Shaymen will receive some money if the deal goes ahead.

He told the Blackpool Gazette: “There is a sell-on clause.

“I would not want to say how much.

“It would be inappropriate to suggest how much.

“Of course any money received is gratefully received.

“It would not stop with us, it is also passed on to Halifax.

“A sell-on clause is pretty standard and Halifax have a sell-on clause so it filters down the football pyramid and it helps a lot of clubs at different levels.”
