FC Halifax Town: Now for something completely different, says Heath

Town manager Billy Heath is expecting a different game entirely to Halifax's pre-season outings so far when they host League One Sheffield United on Tuesday (7.45pm).

Former Halifax boss Chris Wilder will return to The Shay for the first time since leaving the club in 2008 with The Blades, who have so far won 5-0 at Stocksbridge Park Steels and 4-1 against a Murcia Regional Representative Squad in La Manga.

Heath said: “It’ll be really different because we’ve dominated all the games so far, but the shoe will be on the other foot.

“We might not see a lot of the ball and we’ll get dominated possession-wise, so it will be interesting to see how we cope.

“More questions will be asked of us defensively.

“The surface will be a lot quicker and the ball will be zipping about, but I think that will suit us.”

Goalkeeper Tom Nicholson jarred his thumb at Frickely on Saturday but should be involved on Tuesday after being substituted as a precaution.

But defender Kevin Roberts is not expected to play.

Heath added: “Kevin did a lot of running on Saturday and took part in the warm-up.

“But I want to get Kevin right.

“We were in this situation last week and he played and it flared up, so we must avoid that happening again.”
