FC Halifax Town: Show your support, urges Town chairman

Halifax have cut their adult season ticket prices for next season from £319 to £199, with season tickets for children aged between 12 and 17 also cut from £89 to £79.

Season ticket holders will also receive a free framed 2016-17 squad photo for those that sign up before June 30, and a chance to bring a family member or friend to a game for free to a game next season, one free drink voucher and one 20 per cent off shop voucher for club merchandise.

But Bosomworth is confident the target of 1,700 sales, in order to offset the cost of reducing the prices, can be reached.

He said: “We are optimistic and we have to be because that’s how it’s got to work.

“We want more fans to be involved in the club.

“Besides our regular fan-base of season-ticket holders we want to attract fans who perhaps don’t engage as regularly with the club.

“We had 10,000 fans at Wembley, and obviously we know we’re not going to get that level of support every week.

“But we have made the price attractive if enough people pledge their support to us.

“We’ve designed it more as a club membership scheme than a season-ticket with the additional benefits and discounts.

“We haven’t plucked that 1,700 figure out of the air.

“We feel it’s incredibly affordable but we need 1,700 fans buying into it to make it viable.

“If people want to see the club moving forward then they need to come and support us.”

Bosomworth says there is work going on to bolster Town’s squad for next season, and insists revenue generated from ticket sales will go into the playing budget.

“The more people commit to the scheme, the more that increases the playing budget available.

“We are trying to make the budget as competitive as possible and on a similar level to last season.

“The manager is confident he will be able to put a team together that will be in the mix for promotion come the end of the season.

“There’s lots of activity going on behind the scenes but these things take time.

“Players and managers are away on holiday or they’re waiting to hear from other clubs.

“Plus we’ve been delayed three weeks because of Wembley.”

Town made their first signing of the summer last week with the capture of goalkeeper Steve Drench from Guiseley.

Bosomworth said The Shaymen initially attempted to retain loanee Sam Johnson for next season before turning to Drench

He said: “We tried to keep Sam for next season and made an attractive offer to Port Vale but they wanted him to play at a higher level than ours.

“But in Steve Drench we believe we have one of the best goalkeepers in non-league, and he has been for some time.”

Midfielder Jake Hibbs also signed a three-year contract with Halifax earlier this week.

“We rate Jake very highly,” said Bosomworth, “and feel he is developing with every game so we’re delighted he’s staying with us.”

Full-back Scott McManus is set to see an orthopedic surgeon to asses the extent of his anterior cruciate ligament injury.
