Neil Aspin has praised goalkeeper Matt Glennon after Town kept another clean sheet.
Glennon, signed in the summer, had to wait until September 8 away at Hinckley for his first shut out as Town keeper - seven games into the season.
But since then the veteran stopper, 33, has kept eight clean sheets in 12 games, a run which leaves the Shaymen with the fewest goals conceded in the Conference North so far this season.
After the FA Trophy win at Cammell Laird, where Glennon needed to be at his best, Aspin said: “He’s the one player I’ve not spoken about much but he’s certainly done a good job for us.
“He’s a steadying influence because he’s vastly experienced, but he’s also got pride in his own performance and he wants to keep clean sheets.
“I did give him a bit of stick earlier in the season because we didn’t seem to be keeping many clean sheets, but he has responded well and we’ve started keeping more. A lot of that is down to him.”
Town will face Altrincham in the first round proper a week on Saturday after a difficult game in Birkenhead, something Aspin said he had tried to warn his players about.
“We knew we knew we were going to have a difficult game against Cammell Laird and it’s difficult to get that across to your players sometimes.
“You try to stress the importance of the game and that it will be difficult, but for whatever reason sometimes players don’t respond and realise until sometimes it’s too late.
“It’s an important competition and I want to do well in it. You’ve got to take these steps to get through to the bigger rounds, but if you don’t do the job against places like Cammell Laird then you don’t get through.”
