Halifax 4-0 Tamworth: Peniket got his just desserts, says Heath

Peniket got his first goals of the season, along with efforts from Danny Hone and Jordan Sinnott, to see off The Lambs and stay top of the Conference North.

Heath said: “He (Peniket) has worked tremendously hard. The role we’ve asked him to play (on the left) he’s done to his full ability and he comes inside today, comes up-front off (Tom) Denton and he gets two goals.

“I’m really pleased for him because he’s got his just desserts. In other games he hasn’t, I think he’s worked really hard and little things haven’t fallen for him.

“But the pleasing thing today is that both goals were goalscorers goals. The first was a top header and the second one is a real goalscorers goal. It’s come off the keeper and he’s there again.”

Heath said all his players contributed to the win, which was built on his side’s best start to a game so far this campaign.

“It was a good performance. I thought we started the game the best we have all season,” he said.

“The first 10 or 15 minutes I thought was exceptional but we didn’t get the goal.

“They had a little spell after that but that was the only real spell they had of the game.

“The team were exceptional and we’ve got another clean sheet.

“You’ve got to be pleased when you’re scoring goals but the clean sheet was important.

“Everybody played their part, everybody looked strong.

“We were down to the bare bones and we’ve got another result, which is pleasing.”

Heath admitted the inclusions of Hone and Josh Wilde were vital, and that without the defensive duo, his team would have been left desperately short at the back.

“It was massive because if those two hadn’t made it we were in trouble,” he said.

“It was a long Friday finding out that they were both going to be OK, believe me.

“It was important to get Liam King involved - he’s nearly there now.

“He needed to get on the pitch and ease in a bit. Hopefully he won’t have any reaction.”

Heath had been hoping to sign a new defender in time for the game, and said the club came close to doing so.

He added: “We’ve been saying this for the past two weeks but we won’t bring players in for the sake of it.

“I won’t just bring a player in for a couple of weeks and he goes back out again.

“They’ve got to at least be as good as what we’ve already got and hopefully enhance us.

“It was touch and go on a couple of players but it’s not happened and it’s not for the want of trying.”
