New Year Shay experience to be family friendly

Town’s Commercial Director says bringing more families into the Shay is high on his list of New Year resolutions.

Nigel Walker, who has been in the position since November, has already begun making an impression at the Shay as the club looks to enhance its image with fans new and old within the community .

As well as poster campaigns in the town centre and the more effective use of social media to promote upcoming Town fixtures, Walker is looking to boost the matchday experience with a series of hospitality packages to allow the club to make full use of the facilities the Shay has to offer.

“The banqueting suite at the Shay is for everybody, including families,” he said.

“Everyone should benefit from what we have, and families, as well as sponsors, are an important part of that.”

Following the success of a Boxing Day brunch offer against Gainsborough, Town are now offering a January sale bargain package for the Tuesday night home game against Solihull on 8 January, which includes entry to the game, a main course buffet, dessert and tea or coffee for £29.

Children under 12 can also get into the Solihull game free with an adult paying full price.

“We’re trying to do something a bit different,” Walker said. “We know that January can be a hard month for people financially so we’re trying to give them something back.”

Details are currently being finalised for the annual golf day, and the Sportsman’s Dinner.
