Town loanee Alex Titchiner said he was delighted to mark his home debut with a goal - and hopes there are more where that came from.
Front man Titchiner, 21, joined the Shaymen at the end of last month on a one month loan deal from Fleetwood Town.
The Welshman scored 44 goals in all competitions for Witton Albion as they won promotion from the EvoStik Division One North last season, and opened his account in his first start for the Shaymen after just 10 minutes when he latched onto a Gareth Seddon flick on to calmly slot home.
Titchiner said: “It’s always nice to score a goal, especially coming so early.
“It really helped to settle the nerves a bit, playing in front of the home fans for the first time so I’m plreased with that.”
Titchiner made his first appearance for Town just two days after the loan was confirmed at Brackley Town, and didn’t have to wait long for his first start as boss Neil Aspin aims to make best use of his services before his return to his parent club - where last season his new strike partner Gareth Seddon featured prominently.
“As soon as I found out about my loan the first thing the Fleetowood lads said was about Gareth Seddon,” said Titchiner.
“They said he’ll win the flicks on, which he did for the goal against Vauxhall Motors.
“It’s just about getting to know him. I didn’t train at all last week because I was ill, so I’ve only had the Brackley game to try and form a relationship with him.
“But at the same time you’ve got to form a relationship with the other lads too, and Alex Johnson came on and did a job on Tuesday night too.”
Titchiner said the welcome he has received from his new team mates has really helped him as he settles into his new surroundings.
“The first day when I got on the bus for the Brackley game everyone came over and shook my hand and welcomed me to the club,” he said.
“I knew a few of them already when helped, but they’re a good group and they’ve welcomed me and so I’ve enjoyed it so far.
“I’ve come to play some games and get match fit and hopefully score some goals and tonight was a good start.”
