Neil Aspin’s Shaymen travel to Northern Premier League Division One North Cammell Laird in the FA Trophy tomorrow third qualifying round.
The game in Birkenhead represents a great chance to progress to round one of a competition which climaxes in a final at Wembley, and one which Aspin says he takes seriously.
“The FA Trophy is important,” he said.
“We want to get on a run and we want to do well in it. We had Cammell Laird watched last Saturday and although they only drew, they played really well and should have won the game. It’s a difficult place to go to and we’ve got to make sure we’re at our best.”
Town returned to scoring form with a 4-0 home win over Vauxhall Motors on Tuesday night, and on Town’s bid to close the gap to the Conference North leaders, Aspin added: “It’s obviously a cliche but we need to just take one game at time.
“Every game we play we are capable of winning, home or away. We don’t need to worry about where other teams are in the league, we just need to conctrate on one game at a time.”
Liam Hogan and Lee Gregory could return to playing action tomorrow after illness.
Gregory was an unused substitute on Tuesday night against Vauxhall Motors while Hogan missed out completely. Neil Aspin said: “At this time of year there tends to be people with flu and cold. I knew Liam Hogan wouldn’t be able to take part on Tuesday so Phil Bolland came in and did a good job. We’ve got choices up from but Lee Gregory said he had a bit of a sore throat so if players are not fully fit others can come in.”
Ryan Toulson, who missed the game on Tuesday night with a knee problem, could also return.
