Town to play next home game at Rochdale

The Shay Stadium.

The Shay Stadium.

FC Halifax Town’s home game with Stalybridge next Saturday will be played at Rochdale’s Spotland ground.

In a statement, the club said they cannot rely on the pitch being in a suitable condition next weekend due to the activity taking place on it between now and next Saturday.

Halifax Rugby League Club are playing Keighley Cougars at The Shay tomorrow (Sunday, February 17), while Melbourne Storm will also be training on the pitch next week.

The Shaymen’s home match against Harrogate on Tuesday was postponed following a pitch inspection, after which the club’s chairman, David Bosomworth, said they were looking at the possibility of playing at least one game elsewhere.

The club statement said the switch is subject to approval from the Football Conference and Stalybridge Celtic, and that the club were desperate to avoid another postponement.
