FC Halifax Town say their groundstaff will work Christmas Day if it means the Shaymen can complete upcoming home fixtures, starting with Gainsborough Trinity on Boxing Day (3pm).
Town have seen their fixture list decimated by poor weather this season and are currently six games behind leaders Chester.
The game at Colwyn Bay was postponed from last Saturday after 48 hours of rain washed out all but one Conference North game.
But with the notoriously sodden Shay pitch and the forecast of more rain casting doubt over the Boxing Day clash and the home game with Corby on Saturday, Town have reassured fans they will do everything they can to get the games ahead.
Chairman David Bosomworth said: “Everyone involved with the club is desperate to play some league fixtures to try and narrow the gap on the top three clubs.” “It is so frustrating when the weather forecast dominates everything you do, in the hope that games can be played.
“All sorts of considerations go through your mind, switching the game which is expensive at short notice, hiring special waterproof covers at £3,500 for the following two games and so on. We need some luck and we are hopeful we can enjoy a great occasion on Boxing Day.”
Head Groundsman, Graham Osbourne said: “He and his team will do all that they can to ensure the game goes ahead, including work on Christmas Day if necessary.”
