Town will train on Saturday

The Shay - where Town can't train

The Shay - where Town can't train

Boss Neil Aspin says he is disappointed that the Shaymen are not allowed to train in their home stadium as they spend a rare Saturday without a game.

Town were originally scheduled to play promotion chasing Guiseley in a West Yorkshire derby tomorrow.

But Town’s elimination from the FA Cup coupled with Guiseley’s progression to the first round proper means that Town will be without a fixture.

It means the Shaymen’s next game will be at home to Vauxhall Motors on Tuesday night - by which time the Shaymen could be as many as 16 points off the top of the league should Brackley Town win on Saturday.

Aspin said: “We wanted to have a game on Saturday and it’s not ideal that we don’t.

“I would have liked to have been able to train on our pitch and I think that would have helped in the preparation for Tuesday but we’re not able to do that.

“We’ve got to try and find somewhere to train on Saturday in order to prepare to Vauxhall.”
