Brighouse Ladies moved into second place in the West Riding Sunday League after overcoming experienced visitors Salts 4-2.
The match was a great advert for the women's game but it was also a tough encounter, home captain Racheal Robertson setting the tone with crunching tackles.
Keeper Amy Monday had to be on her toes early on but Brighouse forced their way into the game with Jess Brown and Leanne Smith setting up Vanessa Holroyd, who was twice thwarted by the Salts keeper.
Robertson missed with a free header before Holroyd tapped in after Smith's shot from the edge of the box cannoned off the bar.
Just on half time Salts equalised after Brighouse failed to clear a corner and the ball was scrambled over the line.
Salts hit the inside of a post and Smith had a penalty superbly saved before the visitors took the lead on the hour mark.
But good work from Leanne Groves and Chloe Abbott led to Leanne Smith firing across the six yard box for Sarah Hemingway to blast home.
Brighouse sensed victory. Centre backs Livvy Turner and Sherydan Drake made superb last ditch tackles and in the 83rd minute a great run from Robertson set Smith free down the right and her cross was scrambled in by Hemingway.
Smith made the game safe, rounding the keeper and tapping into the empty net.
