Hall Road Rangers 2 Brighouse Town 5
Brighouse Town got over the shock of conceding an early goal as they marched into the second round of the FA Vase with a comprehensive victory over fellow Northern Counties East League Premier Division side Hall Road Rangers.
The match started at a cracking tempo with three goals coming within the first quarter of an hour. John Slater’s deflected free kick put Rangers ahead but the in-form Tom Matthews levelled things up from the penalty spot following a foul by James Atkinson.
Within minutes Matthews had added his second after beating his man before firing past keeper Mike Burley from an acute angle.
The lead was extended further after the break with Nick Jagger netting just after the hour before a mistake from home player Michael Pudjak allowed Ryan Hall to run on and make it 4-1.
Rangers added their second through an Owen Mountain header after 74 minutes, but it was Brighouse who rounded things off with a goal from Craig Billington.
