Brighouse stormed to a second consecutive big win, thrashing a strong Hemsworth side 8-0.
Despite the difficult conditions underfoot, both sides tried to play football and it was Hemsworth who started strongly forcing Brighouse keeper Amy Monday to produce a good save to keep it goalless.
But it was Brighouse who took the lead, against the run of play, when Chloe Abbott’s throw found Livvy Turner in space and she passed square to Leanne Groves 30 yards out. Groves beat two defenders before firing into the bottom corner.
Hemsworth were struggling to cope with Brighouse’s fast flowing football and it was a brilliant counter attack that set up the second goal.
Sheridan Drake won the ball on the edge of her own penalty area and fed Sarah Hemingway, who threaded a perfect ball for Vanessa Holroyd to run onto and finish in style from the edge of the box.
Brighouse dominated the second half and Leanne Smith helped herself to a superb hat trick, with all her goals coming from strikes from outside the penalty area.
Substitutes Kennedy Power and Alex Sweeney helped themselves to a goal each but the goal of the game came from the excellent Emily Holroyd who powered in a superb bullet header at the back post from a Charlotte Reid cross.
