Brighouse Town 4 Armthorpe Welfare 1

Brighouse Town moved up to sixth in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division table after completing the double over Armthorpe Welfare last night.

Armthorpe took the lead in the first half when a corner was only partially cleared, and when Sam Hewitt and Adam Wilson failed to deal with the second ball, James Walker stabbed home. Town replied five minutes later with a goal from Ernest Boafo after good approach play.

The home side then edged ahead when skipper Leon Henry passed to Ryan Hall who trapped the ball, turned, beat his man and put the ball across the box for Danny Naidole to beat ‘keeper Liam Copley.

With the conditions not suiting leading scorer Tom Matthews, he was replaced just after the hour by Joe Jagger.

Town were making it hard for themselves however, in the 73rd minute, they made it 3-1 as James Hurtley and Hall set up Boafo who fired in his second of the match.

Town sealed their win with a fourth goal from Hurtley who finished superbly from 15 yards out after being set up by Hall.
