Champions Carrington FC completed a Ziggys Metro Cars Halifax Sunday League double as they added the Briggs Priestley League Cup to their Roll of Honour following victory over their Premier Division rivals at St Giles Road.

Elland started on the front foot and gained a free kick which was curled in to the penalty area but well claimed by Craig Turnbull in the Carrington goal.

Carrington then took over and had their first shot from 40 goal striker Jordon Cuduri which was well saved by Michael Higgingbotham.

That led to the first corner of the match which Matt Jones headed just wide. Carrington were then awarded a free kick which Matt Jones curled over the wall but unfortunatly over the bar.

Elland then broke and Dean Heppenstall was almost clean through but a last ditch tackle by Chris Hall saved Carrington from falling behind. The resulting corner was headed just wide by Liam Perry.

Man of the match Jay Carney then broke the Elland offside trap but fired just over before Damien Randall went on three mazy dribbles and when he was fouled for the third time the resulting free kick went wide.

The stalemate came to an end when Elland broke and won a free kick which was well saved by Turnbull. he cleared quickly to Damien Randall whose cross was despatched by Leon Hurles-Brook.

Elland went straight up the pitch and were awarded a free kick which again beat the wall but was well saved by Turnbull.

Carrington went straight on the attack at the start of the second half and doubled their advantage when Randall went round the keeper befor slotting home.

With their tails up Randall fired just wide, Jordon Cuduri forced Higgingbotham into a great save and Josh Hiley lobbed the keeper but also the crossbar.

Everytime Elland seemed to get close to the penalty area Dan Crossland and Chris Hall were totally in charge in the centre of Carrington’s defence until Damien Nichols got through only for Turnbull to yet again to make a great save.

His clearence led to a Carrington corner which Matt Jones flicked on. The ball was cleared to the edge of the area and Randall fired in the third goal to make the tie safe.

Dean Heppenstall then hit the post for Elland before Jordon Cuduri, who had three shots saved, wrapped things up with the fourth.
