Former Halifax player Neil Redfearn is the new favourite to become Leeds United’s next manager.

Redfearn guided the club to a 1-0 win over Bolton last Saturday, and owner Massimo Cellino said yesterday he will leave Redfearn in control of the team for the moment.

The former Barnsley and Crystal Palace midfielder, 49, is priced at 4/6 by Sky Bet and William Hill ahead of other leading candidates Giuseppe Sannino, best priced at 3/1 and Steve Clarke, best priced at 5/1.

Redfearn had two spells as caretaker-manager at the Shay and played for the club for the 2001-2002 season.
