Neil Aspin says Dan Gardner will play himself back into contention with more performances like his second-half showing against Woking.
The Town midfielder produced an impressive appearance off the bench in the club’s 4-3 defeat to Woking on Saturday, scoring the Shaymen’s third goal.
Aspin said everyone in his squad will play their part during their current injury problems, and that Gardner did himself no harm in his cameo role.
He said: “Everybody as a supporter will pick a different team - I’m only trying to get a combination which will get us a result.
“People don’t know all the ins and outs of why people get left out but we need everybody in the squad, especially with the injuries.
“The players who’ve come on have responded in the right manner and that puts them in with a chance for next week.
“I’ve spoken about Dan Gardner on many occasions. I rate him - he’s got tremendous ability.
“What he needs to do is work harder, keep the ball better and be more disciplined.
“But his attitude was excellent, we all know he’s a good player, everybody rates him, and if he does that there’s no problem between myself and him.
“I recognise his ability and he’ll be an asset for us when he’s playing like that.”
