FC Halifax Town chairman David Bosomworth has said he is excited by the prospect of watching striker Lee Gregory strut his stuff in the Championship with Millwall next season.
The 25 year old forward has penned a three year deal with the south London club after moving from the Shay for an undisclosed fee.
While sorry to see the player leave Bosomworth is hoping that the Sheffield-born hitman can follow in the footsteps of another former Town player in Jamie Vardy and prosper at a higher level.
“We have always said that if the opportunity presented itself for a player to progress in his career then we would never stand in their way,” said Bosomworth.
“Lee has been fantastic for us over the past two seasons and during that time he has quite rightly attracted the attention of a number of clubs.
“With one year left on his contract, and because of what he has brought to Halifax Town in his time here, we felt he deserved that opportunity to play at a higher level.
“We reached an agreement and to be honest it is a great move for both Lee and Halifax Town.
“He goes to Millwall with our blessing and thanks for what he has helped us achieve.
“I am sure once he has settled in he will prove to be a very good player in the Championship.
“You don’t score 30 goals at Conference level without having an eye for a chance. Not only that but Lee is also a very clever player and a great lad too.
“I for one am looking forward to watching him play in the Championship.”
