Goalkeeper Sam Johnson, defender Ben Clappison and striker Shaquille McDonald have joined FC Halifax Town on loan from Port Vale, Hull and Derby County respectively.

Johnson is expected to make his debut in Saturday’s home game with Dover.

The 22-year-old has previously been on loan at Alfreton, where he played four games last season.

He has played 26 games for Port Vale, but his last senior appearance came in Port Vale’s 2-1 home defeat to Colchester in April.

Centre-back Clappison, 21, has previously been on loan at Histon.

McDonald, 20, joined Derby last summer but is yet to make an appearance from them.

He played four games on loan for Cheltenham last season and has also played for York and Chester, having started his career at Peterborough.

Meanwhile, keeper Russell Griffiths has returned to parent club Everton.

He made just two appearances for Halifax, and was sent-off in the club’s 4-1 win at Gateshead, a decision that was later overturned on appeal.
