KEEPER Jonathan Hedge has been included in Paul Fairclough’s 16-man England C squad for Thursday’s International Challenge Trophy Final against Portugal at Northampton Town’s Sixfields Stadium
The Town stopper, who has been offered a new deal at the Shay, is hoping to add to the cap he won against Poland while England will be looking to avenge a 1-0 defeat to the same opposition back in 2009 .
The squad includes seven new players - Preston Edwards, Connor Franklin, George Donnelly, Matthew Blair, Reece Styche, Sean Clancy and Scott Davies - but Fairclough is confident they can match their opponents.
“It’s a real opportunity for new players coming in to show their ability,” he said.
“Portugal will prove a very tough test for us but you expect that in a final. They had a great win over Italy and we expect them to play some good passing football.”
