FC Halifax Town host York in their final pre-season friendly on Saturday (3pm) with the start of the National League season just a week away.

Town suffered their first pre-season defeat in midweek when they lost 2-1 to Oldham, but have recorded wins over Tadcaster, Brighouse, Bradford Park Avenue, Farsley and Shelley.

York kicked-off their pre-season programme with a loss to Middlesbrough before drawing with Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday.

They then lost at Harrogate, drew against Darlington and beat a strong Newcastle team in midweek, who fielded new signing Aleksandar Mitrovic.

York’s summer signings included goalkeeper Scott Flinders from Hartlepool, Scunthorpe defender Eddie Nolan and Yeovil midfielder James Berrett.

But they lost striker Wes Fletcher to Motherwell and keeper Jason Mooney to Accrington.

Manager Russ Wilcox has been in charge since October last year and guided the club to 18th in League Two last season.
