Players and staff from FC Halifax Town will report for pre-season training tomorrow morning.

Neil Aspin’s new look squad, which has lost stalwarts Tom Baker, James Dean, Aaron Hardy, Danny Holland, as well as Simon Garner, Luke Ashworth, David Haggerty, Anton Foster and goalkeeper Simon Eastwood, will train for the first time since the Shaymen lost out to Gainsborough Trinity in the playoff semi-final.

Aspin said: “It’s always nice to get started again.

“The players have had a summer break but the managers don’t really get one because you’re trying to bring players in to improve the squad.

With only 11 players currently confirmed before the season begins in six weeks time, the manager is hoping to bring in several more new faces.

“I’m aware we need a couple more players,” he said.

“There are a lot of different factors to consider when it comes to signing players and in football the main one is quite often financial.

“I’ve lost out on players in the past because their demands were too high but we’ve got to be sensible when it comes to what we offer,” he said.
