Town defender Ryan Toulson is desperate to avoid a repeat of the last time Vauxhall Motors visited the Shay as the two sides prepare to lock horns again in a Blue Square North clash tonight (7.45).
On that day to forget last September, Town were beaten 5-1 in what was one of the worst defeats for the club since Neil Aspin took charge.
Motors are currrently ninth in the table after winning four and losing four of their nine games to date. However, Town are on something of a roll having won their last four games in all competitions - as well as keeping clean sheets in all those matches - with their latest success coming in the 1-0 victory at Histon last Saturday.
“We know what they did to us last year at home so the Gaffer will be having us up for this game,” said Toulson.
“It was a tough one and I would imagine Tuesday will be the same, but he certainly won’t want us getting beat like that again.
“We have to prepare right and keep our decent little run going.
“It was a difficult game at Histon but we got the win and that is the main thing. We ground the result out and got the three points so we have to kick on now.
“But three points were no good on Saturday without another three against Vauxhall.”
As a member of Town’s backline, Toulson was delighted to have helped the Shaymen keep another clean sheet.
And he believes that is helping confidence spread throughout the side.
“The first priority is to make sure we don’t concede and to keep a clean sheet,” he added.
“We know we can do that if things start from the front. Obviously it is good for Matty Glennon too and it gives everybody confidence going forward.
“We also know that we are going to create chances and we have got lads up there who will score goals for us as well as midfielders who will chip in.
“In the first half at Histon we weren’t good enough and we went in at half-time and we had a few words. After that we came out in the second half and showed what kind of team spirit we’ve got.”
