FC Halifax have been given a boost with the news that defender Scott McManus is now unlikely to need surgery on his groin.
There were fears that the former FC United full-back may have needed an operation to cure the problem which he has been carrying since last season.
But scans carried out last week have revealed that injury could be dealt with by injections to reduce inflammation.
Manager Neil Aspin said: “I believe Scott is going to have some injections to the area that has been troubling him which will hopefully help that to settle down and that might clear it up.
“At the moment that gives somebody else the chance to play at left back and I have to look at other alternatives in case he’s going to be out for longer.
“But hopefully it’ll settle down and he’ll be back training with us in a couple of weeks.”
