FC Halifax Town can move to within three points of securing fourth place in the Blue Square North if they win at Altrincham on Tuesday (April 23, 7.45pm kick-off).
Town also need to win to keep alive their hopes of finishing third, although Brackley will be guaranteed to stay above the Shaymen if they win at Boston on the final day of the season.
If Altrincham win, Town would probably need to win both their remaining matches to finish above them.
The two clubs have already met this month, when Lee Sinnott’s side won 4-3 in a thrilling encounter at the Shay.
Town boss Neil Aspin admits his side may need to win if they want to end the season in fourth.
He said: “Altrincham have still got to pick up points so if we want to get fourth spot we’ll probably need to beat them.
“Games against Altrincham tend to be high scoring, but it’s probably the first time in a league game I can actually relax and the outcome isn’t vital.”
Altrincham are unbeaten in their last five games, including the win at Halifax and a 6-0 thrashing of Hinckley.
The strike partnership of Damian Reeves and Duncan Watmore have 50 goals between them in the league, with Reeves far and away the highest scorer in the division with 36.
As a result, the Robins are the second-highest scorers in the Conference North behind champions Chester.
Meanwhile, Town are now unbeaten in six after their 1-1 draw at Guiseley, and can extend their club record run of 11 away league games unbeaten if they avoid defeat at Moss Lane.
