Town could find themselves short on numbers for Saturday’s trip to Blue Square Bet North leaders Hyde FC.
But boss Neil Aspin has ruled out filling the bench with loan signings just for the sake of it.
Ryan Toulson and Jason St Juste will join Cameron Darkwah in the stands as they serve suspensions following recent red cards.
And with Lee Gregory still injured, there is every possibility that Aspin will not be able to name five senior players on the bench.
“We are thin on the ground next week,” he said.
“But there is no point bringing in someone for a month to sit on the bench for one game.
“What we want is someone who could come in, improve us and make a difference.”
Aspin has spoken in recent weeks of his frustration in the loan player market.
But he has not given up hope of bringing in one or two of his potential targets despite being rejected by clubs in the past 10 days.
“The players I would like to bring in, I can’t because the club’s want to keep them,” he said.
“I made a couple of inquiries last week and was told there was no chance.
“But as the weeks go by, you are getting closer to the end of the season and something might drop into place.”
Aspin added that a perceived lack of movement on the player front did not mean that the club was not working hard to strengthen the playing staff.
“You are always looking for players and it is no lack of ambition on the club’s behalf if we don’t,” he said.
“It is very difficult to get the players you want and it might be that we have to wait.
“You are always looking to replace your weakest link; you are always looking to improve.
