FC Halifax Town are assured of a play-off place barring an incredibly unlikely swing in goal difference following Monday’s results.
Town came close to sealing a top-five place themselves at Southport, but Lee Gregory’s early goal at Southport was cancelled out by two second-half goals in 10 minutes that saw the hosts win 2-1.
However, Braintree’s 1-1 draw at Barnet just over two hours later means Town are three points ahead of them with a superior goal difference of nine.
Halifax host Kidderminster on Saturday (3.0) while Braintree are at home to Grimsby.
If Town can equal or better Gateshead’s result against Cambridge they are guaranteed to finish fourth, while they will finish third if they better Grimsby’s result at Braintree.
