FC Halifax Town host their first home friendly of pre-season as they face Barnsley at the Shay on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

The Shaymen’s pre-season campaign got underway with a 5-0 at Tadcaster on Wednesday, while Barnsley are yet to get their pre-season off and running.

The two clubs met in a friendly at the Shay a year ago when Town produced a superb display to beat the Tykes 3-0 thanks to goals from Lee Gregory and Dan Gardner.

Barnsley went on to be relegated from the Championship last season but have retained a talented squad at Oakwell including highly-rated striker Chris O’Grady and former Bayern Munich winger Dale Jennings.

Lois Maynard (pictured) will lead out Town for the first time at the Shay if he starts after being named as captain for the new season, while Scott Boden, Richard Peniket, Steve Williams, Kevin Roberts and Ross Dyer will get their first outings on home soil.

Danny Schofield also looks set to feature after playing the full 90 minutes in the first game of his trial spell in midweek.
