Green on a roll as title race gathers pace

PREMIER Division table toppers FC Bowling Green will be confident of extending their unberaten league run to 15 matches when they take on bottom club Bradshaw tomorrow.

Green, who maintained their 13 point lead at the top following a 3-0 midweek success against Shoulder FC Northowram, have only lost once in the top flight this season but they have played a number of games more than the chasing pack.

Still sore after a heavy 9-1 midweek defeat against fellow strugglers King Cross CB&AC, anything other than victory will realistically end any lingering top flight survival hopes for Bradshaw.

King Cross CB & AC, fresh from their midweek romp, hit the road to face Carrington Rangers, who lost out 2-0 to the in-form The Vine on Thursday night. The Vine, keen to pull further away from the lower reaches, face a home encounter against Shoulder FC Northowram.

An epic battle is predicted when second-placed Elland Sports play third-placed FC Royal of Pellon while Halifax Hammers face Engineers for the second time in three days to complete the Premier Division line-up.

Two fixtures could change the complexion at the top of Division One as leaders Oddfellows are without a fixture. Second placed Sun Inn welcome the visit of fellow high-flyers Waiters Arms where victory for either team could see them claiming the top spot.

Third placed FC Champs can also take the helm but face a tricky task in claiming all three points against the visiting District and League Cup finalists Lee Mount.

Ovenden Amateurs can condemn Halifax Rangers to bottom spot in the league table should they claim victory in their weekend tussle whilst Hollins Holme play Elland Sports Reserves in another battle at the wrong end of the table.

Thornhill Briggs travel to take on Queens Head with the hosts having taken all nine points from their last three league games.

In Division Two, The Vine Reserves recorded an unlikely 1-0 win over Rastrick Bowling Club last Sunday and hope to continue this form in tomorrow’s clash with leaders Stallions FC.

Form side Royd Club FC will look to continue their steady rise up the table with a home victory against Hebden Bridge AFC and Rastrick Bowling Club travel to King Cross CB&AC Reserves hoping to bounce back from last week’s defeat.

Elsewhere, Ryburn Valley play Greetland Goldstars and Stubbing Wharf welcome the visiting challenge from Top Club while Halifax Rangers Reserves play Ryburn United.
