Ovenden WR are the West Riding County Amateur League champions.
Danny Megson’s side made light of a tricky-looking last Premier Division game of the season away to county cup finalists Steeton last night when winning 5-1.
Two goals from Damian Randall and others from skipper Robbie Graham and free-scoring pair Andy Bailey and John Booth finally killed off the brave challenge of Bay Athletic.
Ovenden made it 70 points from 26 games to move 10 clear of Huddersfield side Bay, whose three remaining games include one against Halifax Irish.
Ovenden were adding the league title to their Halifax FA Saturday Cup success, having beaten Shelf United 4-0 in the final of that competition at Brighouse Town’s ground recently.
The Halifax side may not have finished yet. Ovenden are still involved in the Premier Division Cup and play Salts at the Marley Stadium, Keighley in that competition on Friday evening.
