Ovenden West Riding enjoyed a red letter day in their West Riding CA title quest on Saturday.

Danny Megson’s side won 5-1 away to Campion while their sole rivals for honours, Bay Athletic, were beaten 2-1 at home by Tyersal after leading 1-0 at half time.

It means Ovenden are 13 points clear of Bay, who have played three fewer games.

Ovenden, who have a Halifax FA Saturday Cup final date with Shelf United, have five league games left with their next match away to Storthes Hall on Wednesday.

They led 2-1 at half time against Campion but then pulled clear with Andrew Bailey (two), John Booth (two) and Robbie Graham getting their goals.

Ovenden have still to play Bay away on Saturday, May 3.
