Tough draw for Red Star

Ovenden West Riding, winners of the Halifax FA Saturday Cup for the last five seasons, face a trip to Hebden Royd Red Star in the last eight of this season’s competition.

There has been an interchange of players between the clubs in recent years and Red Star, going well in their quest to bounce back from last season’s relegation from the Halifax AFL’s top flight, will be hoping to spring a shock.

Minnows Spring Hall Celtic, who have knocked out Sowerby Bridge and Northowram from two divisions higher, must travel to either Calder ‘76 or Brighouse Town while teams from different leagues clash in the other two ties.

Challenge Cup holders Elland United will be at home to Greetland in the semi-finals if they can overcome Sowerby United in their delayed last eight contest.

Carrington and Bowling Green, the top two sides in the Bridge Balti Halifax Sunday League, have home ties in the quarter finals of the Halifax FA Sunday Cup.

SkiRcoat Green Physiotherapy Challenge Cup, semi-finals: Elland United or Sowerby United v Greetland AFC, Halifax Irish Centre v Stump Cross. Dates and venues to be decided.
