Lough victorious
CROW Nest Park's annual Presidents Day saw the course in its best ever condition and the scores reflected that.
The Ladies had held their Presidents Day competition the week before and the winner on a countback with 37 stableford points, was Margaret Mitchell. The junior title was won by 13 year old Scott Henry, who gave a very polished speech in front of approx 100 members.
The final presentation was to the overall mens winner, Jim Lough, who is one of the club Professional's assisitants.
Lough won the competition with a very creditable net 65.
He played in the first group of the day and benefitted from the cooler conditions of the morning.
Last years junior captain Danny Lax was second after beating Kevin Carr on a countback with a net 66.
HEBDEN Bridge's scratch team showed its strength in depth, beating Saddleworth despite the unavailability of Jonathan Sutcliffe, Adam Cryer and Martin Astin.
In their absence wins for teenager George Bamford, 6&4, and Paul Richardson - whose 3&2 win included a superb 50 foot putt on the 16th - and Iain Powell, 6&5, were enough.
Victory keeps the Mount Skip men in contention at Division two's halfway stage.
