Elland golfer Nick Marsh has been in sparkling form in Spain, winning two events on the Gecko Professional Tour.
The teenager, an England Boys player, won by one stroke at Almenara Golf Club in an event cut to one round by bad weather.
Marsh shot a three under par 69 to become the first amateur to win on this tour since it’s inception two years ago.
His follow-up success came at La Reserva Golf Club, another famous course on the Sotogrande estate.
Marsh and Spaniard Raul Quiros shared the lead after shooting a one under par 71 on the first day, when a strong wind and tricky pin positions made scoring tough.
Conditions were better for the second round and Marsh, who plays out of Huddersfield Golf Club, had birdies on five consecutive holes from the third to take the tournament by the scruff of the neck.
After bogeying nine, he played safe golf over the back nine to cruise to a three shot win with a 68.
Because Marsh is an amateur he couldn’t take the prize money, which went to the second-placed players.
The victories rounded off a hugely successful year for Marsh, Young Sportsman of the Year at the recent Courier Sports Awards evening at The Venue, Barkisland.
He had finished runner-up in the McEvoy Trophy before winning the Canadian Junior Challenge and the Welsh Open Youths Championship.
