Ambler: Odsal win boosts confidence for decisive run in

That lifted them to third and keeps their top four fate in their own hands ahead of Sunday’s trip to Swinton, an away date at leaders Leigh and final home matches against London and Featherstone.

“Last weekend was a huge game and the next four are huge as well,” said Ambler.

“We might need to win them all, but last weekend was a four point game.

“What a hard game it was; losing Ben and Matt meant we had to do it tough and we did.

“We all shared the work out and got through it together.

“That’s what teams with character do and we’ll take a lot of confidence and belief from doing that against a full time team.

“Seeing Ben like that was distracting and it took us a bit of time to get into the groove after that, but once we did I felt we were always in control.

“It’s difficult when you see one of your brothers like that; we’re a family and you don’t like to see one of us in that situation.

“But anyone who knows Ben knows how tough he is and to see him walk out of the ambulance like that in that first half gave everyone a lift.

“Swinton did a big job on us at our place and it’s certainly not a game anyone is going to be taking lightly.

“The middle eights are in our hands now; we’ve just got to make sure we keep winning and keep it that way.”
