Alan Marchant, the captain of the Halifax team that won the Yorkshire Cup in 1963, has died, aged 75.
An astute leader and tactician, Marchant played 152 matches for Fax between 1959 and 1964, scoring 23 tries.
Fax had signed him from Featherstone Rovers. He left for Hunslet in 1964 - and ended up at Wembley in the thrilling 1965 Challenge Cup Final, where Hunslet just lost out to Wigan.
His funeral will take place at Pontefract Crematorium on Tuesday, February 19, at noon.
