Fax sign Salford's Sarsfield on loan deal

Halifax have signed the Salford back rower Matt Sarsfield on a month-long loan deal.

Sarsfield, a former Wigan, Huddersfield and Leigh player, is likely to go straight into Richard Marshall’s squad for Sunday’s crucial Championship fixture at Batley (3.0).

He is the second Red Devil to join the club on a temporary basis following the arrival of young prop Jordan Andrade 10 days ago.

Fax have struggled for right side back row options this year, with the prolonged absence of winter signing Simon Grix and the unexpected departure of Ross Divorty reducing Marshall’s options.

Marshall has experimented with a number of combinations, although ironically Sarsfield arrives three days after centre Ben Heaton made the most compelling case so far for longer-term inclusion with a man of the match performance against Widnes in last weekend’s Challenge Cup tie.
