Halifax wheelchair rugby side retain Challenge Cup

Halifax's Jack Brown was the star of the show as the town's wheelchair rugby side thrashed Leeds Rhinos 92-48 to retain the Challenge Cup.

England skipper Brown scored five tries and won the man of the match award in the final, which was played at Huddersfield Sports Centre on Saturday.

Halifax got off to a great start by racing into an early 32-point lead thanks to tries from Robert Hawkins, Nathan Holmes and Nathan Mullhall.

Brown scored his first two tries before setting up England team-mates Wayne Boardman and Holmes.

The Rhinos finally got off the mark when Ryan Richardson scored two tries.

But Brown scored three more tries as Halifax started to create clear daylight between the teams before Luis Domingos reduced the deficit to 46 points with his first try of the game.

The Rhinos scored two more tries after the interval but Fax were still 44 points up and, despite a late flurry from the Rhinos, where Richardson scored two more tries, as well as James Simpson and Neil Harper scoring a try each, Halifax closed out the game with a sixth try of the game for Brown and a fourth try of the game for Mullhall.
