Updated: Fax hopeful of playing Batley fixture - decision at 5pm

Halifax appear on course to complete their pre-season preparations at Batley on Thursday night (7.0).

A final decision on whether the match would go ahead was set to be made at 5pm.

Work was continuing this afternoon to make the pitch and stadium ready for the game.

Fax were due to meet the Bulldogs last Sunday, but the fixture fell victim to the wintry weather.

But reports from Mount Pleasant suggest the pitch is playable under a layer of snow, with Batley apparently able to train on it on Tuesday night.

“At this stage, I’d say we are hopeful,” said Fax coach Karl Harrison, whose brother Paul is Batley’s general manager.

The Bulldogs have appealed for supporters to help clear both the pitch and the terraces on Thursday morning.
