Hockey: Two for Walsh in latest win

Halifax Ladies 4 Tadcaster 0

HALIFAX blew away the cobwebs after a long spell of inactivity with a convincing win in their bid for back to back promotions.

All the goals came in the first half as they made it eight wins out of nine in Yorkshire One. They trail Bingley Bees by two points with a game in hand.

They started strongly in spite of appalling weather, and won a number of short corners. A textbook slip pass to Jane Greenwood enabled her to score the first goal with an excellent flick.

Home keeper Sharron Crawshaw had little to do with the defence strong throughout but she made vital saves when needed.

A great surge of play from Halifax produced an easy second goal with Kate Walsh getting the better of the keeper.

Many more chances were created, excellent set piece passing by Zoe Hartley and Jo Love enabling Hartley to produce a great finish.

The fourth goal quickly followed, with Walsh making a great run and sliding tackle, resulting in the ball hitting the back of the net.

Halifax had many chances in the second half but could not add to their tally, having one goal disallowed. However, it was still a great effort from everyone.
