Ex-Yorkshire and England fast bowler Matthew Hoggard is to be the guest speaker at the Foster’s Halifax League’s centenary dinner at the Shay on Friday, May 9.

Hoggard played for Yorkshire for 13 years and for England from 2000 to 2008, captaining Leicestershire from 2010 until retiring in 2013.

The league’s centenary book is due to be launched at the dinner, for which tickets are expected to be around £25.

The news of the dinner was announced at last Tuesday’s meeting at the Shay to launch the new league website.

Clubs will be required to submit full details of first and second team matches from the start of the 2014 season.

The extra infomation on the site means the 2014 season is likely to be the last one when a league handbook is produced, saving the league £1,500.
